Macedonian Centre “Saint Nicholas”
is organizing
Second Annual Regional Exhibition of Children’s Drawings
Theme: “Save the Planet”
Grand Prize $500
EXHIBITION GUIDELINES AND REGULATIONS:
Who: Kids and teen, ages 5-14 (grade JK – 8).
This competition is open to all children that are residents of La Salle, Windsor and Essex County.
What: We invite elementary school children to participate in this exhibition with original drawing with the theme “Save the Planet”. By using lines, colours, visual symbols and shapes, they should present the world as their own imaginary garden and safe place for future existence. Children could draw pictures of how they view the environment, the problem of polluting and climate change as well as urban and industrial development. Through their artwork, they can develop an increased awareness of those problems; they can suggest an action or send a message to leaders, government officials, individuals, organizations, agencies and corporations to improve the local and global environment.
Criteria: Drawings will be judged on the following criteria: 40% - Overall aesthetic appeal; 25% - Appropriate use of contest theme in the drawing; 25% - Creativity and originality; 10% - Quality and clarity of the drawing.
When: Deadline for submission is Wednesday May 21, 2008 until 7 pm.
Where: Exhibition Hall at the Macedonian Centre “Saint Nicholas”, La Salle.
Entries: All entries must be hand-drawn and/or hand-coloured. Colour copied output will not be accepted. Drawings should be on a sheet of paper, Bristol board, foam board or any other two dimensional surface. Artwork should be no larger than 41cm x 51cm (16x20 inches) and not heavier than 1 kg (2lb). Drawing submission should be without frame and glass. Any materials and art techniques can be used, including natural and recyclable materials as application. One entry per person, please.
The following information MUST be included on the back of the drawing or on the attached paper:
1. Name of artist; 2.Grade; 3.School’s name; 4.Teacher’s name; 5.Contact phone number.
Please give the original art, along with the information described above to your teacher, mail it to or bring it at Macedonian Centre “Saint Nicholas”, 5225 Howard Avenue, LaSalle, Ontario, N9A 6Z6
Awards: The exhibition committee will appoint a professional jury. The panel of suitably qualified judges will award the following prizes:
Grand Prize for best drawing of $500
Second Prize of $300, Third prize of $200 and prizes for each grade
Award for the most Involved Teacher and for the most Involved School
Announcement of the winners and prize giving will take place at the
GRAND OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION on Friday, June 20, 2008, 6 pm. All exhibitors, their parents, guardians, relatives, friends, teachers, school’s principals and all interested public are invited to take part at the grand opening. Family fun. Ethnic food. Free admission.
